Students will develop soft robotics manipulators with controllers able to manipulate and handle the objects for pick and place operation without damaging them.
2. Crop harvesting using soft robotic pickers. Summary: Crop harvesting needs special skill and labor intensive. Unskilled workers will spoil the crops and yield low productivity. Students will develop soft robotic pickers made from rubber and/or polymer for crop harvesting. A proper method to harvest crops like cucumber, chili, tomato, etc. is expected to be achieved by the soft robotic picker.
3. Autonomous fertigation farm crop harvesting with soft robotics. Summary: Large-scale fertigation farms can be as big as thousands of acres. Crop harvesting will be difficult, and implementation of robotics and automation is crucial. Students will develop an autonomous crop harvesting robot in fertigation farm employing soft robotics as manipulator.
