Centre of Excellence
Research Center For Applied Electromagnetics (EMCenter)
EMCenter is one of the Center of Excellence (COE) of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. It was established in 2013 and performs research on Applied Electromagnetic. The center engages with several Center of Research (CoR) and Focus Groups (FG) presently has 14 principle and affiliate dedicated and diverse researchers with strong research capabilities.
EMCenter engages in extensive research spanning a wide spectrum of subjects including, Electromagnetic Waves and Propagation, Electromagnetic Characterisations and Techniques, Antenna Design and Optimization, RF Microwave and Millimeter-Wave Devices, Electromagnetic Magnetic Flux Switching Machines, Power System & Optimization Technique, Renewable Energy and Applications, Materials, Electromagnetic Sensing and Imaging and Emerging Technologies and Artificial Intelligence.
The mission of the center is to undertake research in applied electromagnetic through the continuous enhancement of knowledge, facilities and human resources to solve problems and address the challenge of the future.

Microelectronics and Nanotechnology – Shamsuddin Research Centre (MiNT-SRC)
Microelectronics & Nanotechnology – Shamsuddin Research Centre or MiNT-SRC is one of the Center of Excellence (CoE) under the Institute for Integrated Engineering (IIE), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). It was established in November 27th, 2006. Formerly it was known as Microelectronic and Nanotechnology Centre (MiNTEC). In November 25th, 2007, the name of Microelectronic & Nanotechnology – Shamsuddin Research Center was effective as an acknowledgment to our university’s former chairman Y. Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Ir Shamsuddin bin Abdul Kadir for his contribution to the university (2007-2009). He is currently appointed as first Pro-Chancellor of UTHM.
The research conducted in MiNT-SRC is multidisciplinary encompasses renewable energy, blue light-emitting-diode (LED) technology, sensors, bio-sensors, bio-nanotechnology, bio-engineering, thermal electric physics and electronic materials. We have various state-of-art analytical equipment for studying micro- and nanotechnology. The researchers from MiNT-SRC are mainly from 7 principal researchers, 11 senior researchers, 2 post-docs, 38 affiliated researchers and postgraduate students from Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (FKEE) and Faculty of Art, Science and Technology (FAST).
The researchers, students, assistant engineers and laboratories are in the same building which provides huge opportunity for interactions between staffs and students. Under the Japanese Kohza’s system supervision, the students are structurally guided by seniors and supervisors in lab work and frequent research colloquium and symposium. The strong research culture within the center has enabled our students in Q1 and Q2 SCI-indexed journals.
Our research centre has strong collaboration with Shizuoka University, Japan via MoU for Double Degree Program. We received short-term and long-term student attachment from a few universities from Indonesia such as Universitat Riau and Universitat Sebelas Maret and Univeristat Noorul Islam Kaliga. Our researchers also work on industry projects for Sena Traffic System Sdn. Bhd. in solving the traffic counting problem. We welcome international research collaboration, visits and students/staffs attachment.
