Sharing on FRGS and PRGS Proposal Writing – 24 January 2019 (Thursday)

On the 24th of January 2019, the Research and Publication Committee FKEE has successfully organized two talks from Assoc Prof. Dr Soon Chin Fhong and Dr Chia Kim Seng who had shared their views on “FRGS Grant Application: Sharing of Proposal Writing” and “PRGS Proposal Evaluation and Interview Preparation: An experience Sharing”, respectively. During the first part of the talk, Dr Soon highlighted the importance of writing an FRGS application which should meet the National Research Prioritise Area (NRP) and how fundamental research grant is formulated and differentiated from applied research proposal. Various common mistakes and comments in writing an FRGS proposal were also revealed. Dr Chia pointed out that previous track records in developing a prototype must be explicitly presented in a PRGS proposal. Comparison of the current product proposal and the product that are already in the market must be listed out. Both talks received overwhelming responses from approximately 60 participants.
