Computational Signal, Image And Intelligence

CSII was established in 2017 as one of the Focus Groups within the Department of Electronic Engineering in the Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, UTHM. As of now, CSII consists of 9 academic staffs specializing in the discipline of computer engineering. CSII boasts with having all the members with PhD in variety skill in computer fields, as well as having a Professional Engineer (Ir.) registered with BEM and a Technology Expert (Ts.) registered with the MBOT. This enables CSII to be the center in transferring academic knowledge and activities, training, education, research activities, as well as consultancies in the field of computer engineering. Other than that, CSII members also involve with teaching and supervising post-graduate students, and currently there are 12 active research students carrying out computer engineering projects. CSII specializes in:

Norfaiza

TS. DR. NORFAIZA FUAD

N.Fuad completed her PhD in advance signal processing at the Faculty Electrical Engineering, University Teknologi MARA Shah Alam, Malaysia. She has received Master in Science (M.Sc) in Computer System Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2006 and Bachelor Degree of Engineering (B.Eng) Hon’s in Computer Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2003. Currently, she works as a senior lecturer and a head of Artificial Intelligent Lab (MSP) at the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). She is also Principal Researcher for Computational Signal, Imaging and Intelligence (CSII) Focus Group at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). Besides that, she becomes a role of ‘Penyampai UTHM Radio’ for University Campus Interactive TV (UCiTV) at Universiti Tun Hussein Malaysia (UTHM) since 2017. Her professional memberships are member IEM (graduated) and IEEE. She has completed several research grants; won several medals in research and innovation showcases and awarded several publication and teaching awards. She has authored and co-authored a book in mobile learning application, published several both local and international book.

DR.     RADZI      BIN AMBAR

Radzi Ambar completed his Diploma in Control and Information Systems Engineering from Tsuruoka National College of Technology, Japan in 2001. He received his MSc. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2011 from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). He received his Ph.D in Mechanical and Control Engineering (Robotics) from Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan in 2015. Before devoting his work fulltime to UTHM, Radzi served as Senior Software Engineer at Panasonic Communication Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (2003-2007) developing Panasonic brand thermal fax software for worldwide distribution include Brazil, Russia and China. He also worked as Quality Assurance Engineer for Sharp Manufacturing Malaysia Sdn. Bhd (2007-2008). While completing his PhD studies, he also worked as Research Assistant at Sagara Laboratory in Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan (2012-2014). He has been working for UTHM as a tutor and lecturer for more than a decade. At present he is the Head of Computer Engineering Field in the Faculty of Electric and Electronic Engineering at UTHM. He is the recipient of several medals in research and innovation exhibitions in addition to several publication awards and teaching awards. He has authored and co-authored several both local and international book chapters, technical papers in conferences and peer-reviewed journals (>50) papers His research interests include robotics engineering and assistive devices for rehabilitation.

TS. DR. KHALID BIN ISA

Khalid Isa graduated from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, in 2001 with a BSc in Computer Science. He then pursued his MSc. in Computer System Engineering at the Universiti Putra Malaysia, graduating in 2005. Following from this, in 2014, he completed his PhD degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Universiti Sains Malaysia, with specialization in Computational Intelligence and Underwater Robotics. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Computer Engineering Department, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). He is also Head of Student Career Department in the Centre of Career Advancement and Alumni, UTHM and Chairman of IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) Malaysia Chapter. His research interests are underwater robotics, computational intelligence, bio-inspired engineering, internet of things, image processing, control, and autonomous system

DR. SUHAILA SARI

Suhaila Sari completed her PhD from Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Saitama University, Japan in 2012. She has received Master of Electrical Information Engineering from Yamagata University, Japan in 2005 and Bachelor of Electrical Information Engineering from Yamagata University, Japan in 2003. Currently, she works as a senior lecturer at the Department of Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). She is also Senior Researcher for Computational Signal, Imaging and Intelligence (CSII) Focus Group at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). Besides that, she also contributes as reviewer for international and local journals and conferences, as well as assessor and supervisor for student projects in undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She also has participated in local an international conference and symposium as the committee member. She has completed research grant, won medal in research and innovation competition and awarded technical publication award in international conference.She has authored and co-authored many publications, such as journal papers, conference proceedings, book-chapters, modules both in local and international levels.

DR. NORSURAYAHANI BINTI SURIANI

Nor Surayahani Suriani is Senior Lecturer in Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). She received her PhD in Electronics and Computer System from Universiti Kebangasaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2015, and finished her Master (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia) and Bac. Eng. (Universiti Putra Malaysia) in Electronics and Communication in 2007 and 2003, respectively. Her research interest focuses on computer vision, image processing and bioinspired visual cortex algorithm development. She has published in Q1 impact factor and Scopus journals mainly in image processing and bio-inspired computer vision areas especially in healthcare and activity monitoring applications.

TS. DR. MOHD NORZALI BIN HJ MOHD

Mohd Norzali Haji Mohd is currently working as Senior lecturer, Faculty Lab Manager (HoD) and Former Industrial Training Coordinator at the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Univeristi Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). He received Diploma in Computer Engineering from Toyama Maritime College, Japan in 2000 and B.Eng., M.Eng. from Fukui University, Japan in 2002 and 2004 respectively. In April 2015, he received Ph.D. from the Department of Information Sciences and Biomedical Engineering, Kagoshima University, Japan. He hold several research grants such as e-Science Fund in 2009, FRGS in 2008 and 2013, UTHM short term Grant in 2009 and 2010 ,MEXT- JSPS KAKENHI 2014 and GIPS in 2015. He participated in several research and innovation showcases “Automatic Moving Vehicle Recognition System” RMC 2008, 2nd Place, CCTET 2006 and IAPR MVA 2015. He has supervised 29 B.Eng. , 2 M.Eng and 55 Industrial training students. Currently supervising 4 B.Eng. ,2 M.Sc , 2 PhD student. He has authored, co-authored and published several both local and international book chapters (3), technical papers in conferences (12), peer reviewed journals (11) and Teaching module(4). He also served as Editorial board in MASAUM, Journal of Computer Sciences (2011) and International Journal of Computing Application (2010). He was also appointed as a reviewer for Jurnal Teknologi (UTM), IC3e , RoVISP and MUCET 2015 .His research interest are computer vision, robot vision, pattern recognition and image processing. He is currently an active member of IEEE, IEEE Signal Processing Society, IAEng and Embedded Computing Research Group, EMBCOS (UTHM), BIOMEMS and a Professional Technologist ( Electrical and Electronic Technology)

MR. MOHD HELMY BIN WAHAB

Mohd Helmy Abd Wahab is a senior lecturer and former Head of Intelligent System Lab at the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). He has actively involved in many academic activities such as being invited speaker at ICRITO 2015 (India), IPIARTI 2015 (UTP), IPIARTI2014 (UNIMAP) and IPIARTI 2012 (UiTM). He hold several research grants, won several medals in research and innovation showcases and awarded several publication award and teaching awards. He has authored and co-authored 2 books in database system (2013) and this book received consolation prize by Society of Science and Mathematics Malaysia (PESAMA) in 2014 and WAP application (2009), published several both local and international book chapters (11), technical papers in conferences and peer-reviewed journals (>100) papers. He also involve in publishing articles in periodicals such as newspaper (Utusan Malaysia) and national magazine (Dewan Kosmik). He also served as guest editor for Special Issue in Wireless and Mobile Networks in International Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications (2011) and as Deputy Editor in Chief for Int. Journal of Software Engineering and Computing since 2009 and scholarly contributed as committee for conferences, editorial team and manuscript reviewers and also invited to be session chair in conferences. Latest, he also invited to be Advisory Committee for ICACM 2016 at Pune, India, and Track Chair for IEOM 2016 in Kuala Lumpur. His research interests are in data mining, artificial intelligence and computer vision, mobile and wireless computing, web-based applications. He is currently an active member of IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, IAEng, IACSIT and PECAMP (Society of Info. Retrieval and Knowledge Management Malaysia) and as Associate Member for Embedded Computing Research Group (UTHM), BigData Center (UTM), MySigBigData (UM), E-Community Research Center (UKM).

PM DR. SITI ZARINA BINTI MUJI

Siti Zarina Mohd Muji is Associate Processor at Department of Electronic Engineering in Computer field at Faculty of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). Her research interest is in Embedded System and Application, Tomography, and Sensor and Application. She currently being a head of several grants includes Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), Multidisciplinary Research (MDR) and MTUN Commercialization (Internal Grant). For FRGS grant, this is a collaboration with oil and gas industry that related to pipe corrosion. For MDR, this research focus on detection of pipe leakage at UTHM and for MTUN Commercialization is a grant to commercialize Jaundice Meter which is a device to detect the jaundice among baby. She also involves in publishing articles in journal (50), book chapter (10), technical papers in conferences (>30) and peer reviewed journal (>20) (IEEE sensor, Sensor and Actuator B Chemical and many more). She also won several medals in research and innovation showcases where a Jaundice Meter project won a gold medal in Pecipta 2017.

DR. NIK SHAHIDAH AFIFI

Nik Shahidah Afifi Md Taujuddin completed her PhD in Image Processing at UTHM in 2017. She has received Master in Science (M.Sc) in Computer Science in 2004 and Bachelor Degree of Engineering (B.Eng) Hon’s in Computer Engineering in 2002, both at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She also a visiting researcher at Iwahashi Lab, Nagaoka University of Technology, Japan (2015-2016).Currently, she is a senior lecturer at Department of Postgraduate Study. She currently own several active grants, won several medal in innovation competition and actively writing several research publications.
