The department consists of 117 academic staffs who are actively involved in teaching and research which are recognized at the national and international level. Many academic members of the department are also pursuing engineering consultancies requiring expertise in multidisciplinary areas.

The Department currently offers Bachelor of Electronic Engineering with Honours (BEJ) that was introduced in 2010. It is a 4-year programme which is recognised and accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC), Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). The degree programme prepares the students to be competent and able to pursue their careers within five specialisation areas based on the five major clusters as mentioned above.
