IDP COURSE INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO ARENA CIPTA (M) SDN. BHD. AND SARAOGY (M) SDN. BHD. – 18 APRIL 2019 (THURSDAY)

The FKEE Capstone Project Committee in collaboration with the Batu pahat Agriculture District Office had organised an industrial visit to Arena Cipta (M) Sdn. Bhd. and SaraOgy (M) Sdn. Bhd. on the 18th of April 2019. These two companies can be categorized as successful businesses of Industri Asas Tani in Batu Pahat district. A group of 20 students from Section 2 of IDP1 course participated in the visit together with the lecturer and supervisors; Dr Nor Hafizah, Dr Chua and Mr Aizan while Mdm. Ruzilah represented Batu pahat Agriculture District Office.

The visit started with a short briefing from Arena Cipta Managing Director, Mr. Mohd Halil about their business scope. This company specialises in manufacturing machines for food industries; farming; agriculture; beauty and health products; as well as labeling and packaging of steel-based equipment. Up to the date of this visit, their manufacturing machines have entered Saudi Arabia and Australia market. They welcome any inventions to be manufactured in their factory starting from the prototype up to ready-for-commercialisation product.

As for visit to SaraOgy, Mdm. Roziah Ikhsan who is the owner and founder of the company, shared her experiences in starting up the company back in 2009 and challenges that she faced to sustain the business operation. This company produces bread, cake and cookies for the local markets and are also exported to Singapore. Most of the products produced by this company are not dependent on machines but instead, created by using the workers’ own bare hands and thus, consuming longer labor hours. SaraOgy welcomes any ideas or potential collaborations from FKEE to efficiently enhance the food processing through utilization of automation equipment.

In this visit, the participants had been exposed to the machine and food processing businesses. Other than opportunity for industrial collaborations, one valuable knowledge gained from this visit is about the key to success. In this case, both successful entrepreneurs – Mr. Mohd Halil and Mdm. Roziah, share similar principles which are patience and determination.
